The new 19in subrack series named FerroRAIL was developed consistently for applications of the French railway/SNCF (Société national chemins de fer français).
The subracks are based on the series FUTURE, conformal to the LES-DB standards of the German railway, and were accordingly converted for the fulfillment of the French standards specific requirements.

This is valid in particular to the design of the total structure - for example by additional lateral guiding devices, the special organization of the back, the explicitly demanded material as well as the additional screw connection possi...
MEN presents the G20, its first 64-bit CompactPCI® Serial single-board computer, which opens up a new era in terms of speed and robustness.

CompactPCI Serial is based on CompactPCI (PICMG 2.0), but supports fast serial data transfer. Thanks to this higher speed, the board is perfectly suited for applications requiring high computing power, for example in transportation, industrial automation or power generation.

With the new, extremely fast 64-bit Intel® Core™ i7 processor, the G20 reaches a base frequency of 2.53GHz. In addition, the processor supports Intel Turbo Boost t...

Banverket, the Swedish rail operator, required a solution that would allow Internet Protocol (IP) traffic to be transmitted on long stretches of existing telecoms grade twisted pair cables running along the trackside. The Westermo Wolverine products were the perfect fit for this application and allowed a completely IP based system to be implemented without the need for the installation of costly fibre optic cables.

The requirement arose from the installation of a system conforming to the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS). ERTMS is a major project developed by a number of major...
Bombardier Transportation has won a tender for the new regional double-deck trains organised by French Railways (SNCF) on behalf of the French Regions.

The framework contract contemplates the design and manufacturing of 860 double-deck electrical multiple units (EMU) for a total amount of approximately €8 billion ($11 billion), subject to exercising some technical options. With this framework contract, SNCF also signed a first firm order for 80 trains valued at approximately €800 million ($1.1 billion), financed by the Regions.

In-motion rail weighing technology from Railweight is ensuring efficient transport of cement on train deliveries between the Indonesian factory PT Semen Padang and the local port, from where it will be exported. More than 2000 tonnes of cement are delivered every week.

The technology will help reduce a problem that Railweight has identified in the past: Unloading cement at the port was uncontrolled and there was no way of monitoring whether the returning wagons had cement left in them. This affected the efficiency of deliveries.

As part of its continuous improvement process, the company ...
